Support thoughtful reading of The Twits by Roald Dahl, a mischievous story about a cruel couple who play nasty tricks on each other and mistreat the animals around them. When Muggle-Wump and his monkey family join forces with the birds, they devise a plan to turn the tables on Mr and Mrs Twit. Filled with outrageous humour and imaginative revenge, the story invites readers to explore kindness, fairness and the ways our behaviour reveals who we are.

These learning contracts combine comprehension and inference, higher order thinking, vocabulary, writing and creative responses. Conscious communication activities explore characters’ feelings and needs, while reflection prompts encourage students to consider their own learning. QR codes and clickable links provide guidance for selected activities, supporting growing independence within your classroom reading programme.

Themes explored: kindness and cruelty, bullying, fairness and justice, revenge, cooperation and teamwork, cleverness and problem-solving, animal welfare, freedom, appearances vs. inner self, choices and consequences, standing up for others.
