Students will learn how authors use carefully selected details to help readers visualise a setting and shape the way they respond to a place. By exploring the island's steep cliffs, windswept pōhutukawa trees, sparkling water and distant location, students discover how vivid description can work alongside unanswered questions to create mystery and encourage curiosity.
