“National primary test results published today suggest standards are improving…” This recent article, posted on the TES website, went on to say, “The results show that 79 per cent achieved level 4 in reading, writing and maths.”
I think those figures are encouraging! Of course the main goal of many teachers in many schools across the country is to foster attitudes of contentment, compassion and confidence in their pupils and they work extremely hard to achieve that goal. However, when so much emphasis is placed on SATs it is wonderful to see the evidence of our hard work in those test results. As we start a new school year with our new classes let’s give ourselves a ‘pat on the back’. It’s good to recognise that the things we do have an effect and we can look forward to helping our new pupils.
On the back of these encouraging results let’s move into this academic year with excitement and with a degree of anticipation and optimism.
